We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Medical Lab Assistant to join us at Hillcrest Medical Center in Tulsa, OK. As part of our team, you will play a crucial role in supporting our laboratory operations by ensuring the accuracy and efficiency of specimen processing and testing.

Responsibilities

• Promote professionalism and maintain a cooperative working environment.
• Ensure specimens are obtained following laboratory guidelines.
• Communicate effectively to relay pertinent patient or sample information.
• Maintain compliance with regulatory and accreditation standards.
• Follow procedural directions and protocols accurately.
• Prioritize and organize workload efficiently.
• Handle specimen packaging and transport correctly.
• Manage patient registration, lab test ordering, specimen processing, and distribution.
• Adhere to infection control practices and proper patient identification.
• Perform drug screen collection and process as required.
• Respond to laboratory calls and assign phlebotomists for specimen collection.
• Perform courier duties as needed.
• Recognize emergent conditions and respond appropriately.
• Provide phlebotomy services professionally and compassionately.
• Evaluate own practice and seek continuous improvement.
• Ensure quality patient care and promote service excellence.
• Assist in laboratory testing and equipment preparation.
• Support other laboratory processes and departments.
• Perform other assigned duties.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Preferred: Certification as a phlebotomist upon hire.
• Preferred: Certification as a medical lab assistant within 2 years of hire.
• Preferred: Experience in a clinical setting.
